Violent Approach to the Civil Rights

Why Did Malcolm X take a violent approach to the Civil Rights Movement?

Picture
Malcolm's violent nature came about after his father Rev. Earl Little was brutally murdered by a white supremacist group "The Black Legion". Although Earl Little had two life policies in his name his family couldn't claim the insurance, as his  death was ruled as suicide by the all white authorities even though there was overwhelming evidence that he was murdered. Following the death of Earl, racial elements from the Black Legion, forced Malcolm, his siblings and his mother into emotional strain and economic hardship.

Throughout the years of Malcolm's life he fought for Civil Rights and Equality for black's. His famous quote "By any means necessary" expresses the fact that Malcolm X would go to any lengths possible to accomplish his ambitions he was prepared to do anything and would fight/ kill if need be and anything else to see a fruit of his labour. He also wasn't a person who thought that the plight of African-Americans would be solved through a peaceful, quiet means and nuances.

Malcolm stated, "I would have  taken violence for violence to force the white man to compromise their stand and give freedom and justice to the black man." He also denounced non-violence as “the philosophy of a fool”.

“While King was having a dream, the rest of us Negroes are having a nightmare”- Malcolm X
